The North Hopkins FCCLA attended its first regional FCCLA convention in Waco, Texas, on February 8th-10th. Members competed in various levels of competition and attended several informative seminars and general sessions. Ashlee Stone and Leslie Pacheco competed in Life Event Planning, Madison Joslin and Miracle Ramon completed a project board for the Spotlight Chapter Service Project division, and Jennifer Gonzalez exhibited her Recycle and Redesign piece. Sadie Conner took on the role of our voting delegate and was able to sit in on the speeches delivered by the candidates. Kayla Stidham made NH proud by running for a regional office and was narrowly defeated. Amy Sprague and Trey Patterson baked for the Cupcake Battle, where Trey made it into the top 6 with his 5th place cupcakes. There were 35 competitors in this division. Trey earned the right to compete at the state convention in April in Dallas, Texas.
“This being the first year for our chapter, we went into the convention looking for it to be a learning experience. The students learned so much about the different opportunities available through FCCLA and are excited about building our club.”
